The CPU might not blister the way the top of a person’s ears blister under the sun, but the chemical cloud still mixes as the heat disfigures the memory chips, mother board, and chemical reaction that triggers a hardware melt down. For example, Thursday, I needed a new portable hard drive. My wife and I looked for a large store with air conditioning. As soon as we entered the front door of the electronic store, the first boxes that greeted each customer’s eyes were lap top coolers. Boxes of lap top coolers were piled high. Summer heat in Las Vegas is a big problem for computers, especially lap tops, and car computers. The heat is so terribly intense for computer components in Las Vegas that the electronic store meets the visitors demands with portable fans twelve inches wide that whisper air under the overheated laptop. The cooler isn’t enough. The fans range in size up to seventeen inches because the heat the computer components crammed into a tight space, the heat has to be dissipated by being blown around the internal system encased in a notebook fit with chemicals.Thursday, September 22, 2011
