Dan Quayle, Barbara Boxer and Ensign

Barbara Boxer’s speech was brutal for Ensign’s friends because the legalities uttered with Boxer’s voice flowed like an anthem - A call to the unheard voices hurt by the powerful who shamed those less fortunate. I felt sorry for Rick Santorum. Folks sitting around the dinner table were surprised to hear me defend Santorum, but I give credit where credit is due, especially when a citizen works so hard. Let me give you two examples; Bob Dole and George H.W. Bush. When I live in Czech, books were hard to come by in English. I found history books and read them repeatedly. Bob Dole’s service for the U.S. in Italy was great - Better than great, his courage was profound. He proved to be braver when he entered into politics. Dole is an American icon. I don’t agree with Dole’s beliefs. His political ideas are as insane as Newt Gingrich, but in a democracy we are free to disagree.  Another wonderful role model is George H.W. Bush. From his Prescott family to being shot down in World War II, George H.W. Bush’s service to this country is beyond the scope of large volume books. Bush should have a small private library dedicated to his role as oil speculator, business deal maker, ambassador, intelligence chief, Vice President; Seriously I am surprised that he picked Dan Quayle to be his Vice President. Dan Quayle is the biggest nuclear disaster to hit the GOP. I will never forget seeing James Baker so deflated, so defeated, as when he wrestled with Quayle to make Quayle not appear like such a moron in men’s pants. James Baker was Chief of Staff for Ronald Reagan. He was Secretary of State for George Bush. He quit to help George Bush get re-elected, but Dan Quayle made Sarah Palin seem smart. He went to South America and as the cameras were following him with news crews, he played with toys that when lifted sprouted an erection.
